Aslam Shigri (Founder)
Born and raised in the historic village of Alchuri in the heart of Shigar Valley, along the iconic route to K2, my journey began as a young porter on the K2 Base Camp trail. On those rugged glacial paths, I carried expedition gear and learned the raw, humble art of mountain survival.
From those early days in the extreme high altitudes, I developed a passion not only for adventure, but for storytelling, photography, and the power of sharing authentic mountain encounters with travelers from all corners of the world.
In 2017, I founded Beyond Karakoram to turn a dream into reality — to offer private and group adventures across hidden valleys, towering 8,000-meter peaks, and untouched trails of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Over the years, we have guided hundreds of international travelers through tailored mountaineering expeditions and cultural treks. From solo hikers to filmmakers and mountaineers, we have led successful summits including Khosar Gang (6,400m) in record time.
